Hourly teacher in art history Niels Henriksen

Niels Henriksen is an art historian specializing in 20th and 21st century Western art. His research focuses on the encounter between theory and practice in 20th-century art and on the rethinking of art theory in the same period at the intersection of archaeology, psychoanalytic theory, anthropology and technology critique.

Niels received his PhD in Art History from Princeton University in 2022 based on a dissertation on Asger Jorn's illustrated books on prehistoric and medieval art. His research has been supported by grants from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, the Getty Research Institute, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Mellon-Marron Research Consortium, the Donald and Mary Hyde Foundation and the New Carlsberg Foundation.
