Professor Loulou Cherinet
Visual artist and professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Conceptual and Contextual Practices Loulou Cherinet is educated at Addis Ababa University School of Fine Art & Design and Kungl. Konsthögskolan in Stockholm. She lives in Stockholm, but her artistic practice extends far beyond the borders of Sweden, especially Ethiopia, where she has worked in interdisciplinary collaborations for many years.
Loulou Cherinet has presented her solo exhibitions in cities such as Stockholm, Addis Ababa, Prague, Krakow, Lüneburg and Jakarta. Her works have found their way to some of the world's biggest art events, including the São Paulo, Venice, Bamako, Dakar, Sydney and Gothenburg Biennials. She has also participated in Manifesta 8, Momentum 7 and a number of notable group exhibitions including Africa Remix (2006) and Divine Comedy (2014), both curated by Simon Njami, as well as Modernautställningen (2006) and The New Human (2015) at Moderna Museet Malmö.
Loulou Cherinet has extensive teaching experience, including a ten-year appointment as professor at Konstfack University of Arts, Craft and Design, Stockholm and a long-term visiting professorship at Kungliga Konsthögskolan, Stockholm - as well as from teaching, workshops and seminars at other Scandinavian art schools and in Addis Ababa.
