Hunting Luck

Artist talk with Frank Koolen at 5pm on December 2. at Kunsthal Charlottenborg. Frank Koolen will elaborate on the possibilities of coincidence, the painful importance of failure, and why a bad review, woodworm or a secretly hidden chorizo could be the start for a new idea. Helped by visual examples from his own artistic practice

Frank Koolen (1978, Maastricht, NL) is a visual artist, organizer of exhibitions and teacher in Fine Art at the Utrecht School for the Arts (HKU). He lives and works in Amsterdam.

Koolen studied Fine Art at the HKU and was a resident at de Ateliers and De Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. Ranging from the tragic to the funny, from the absurd to the serious Koolen playfully tries to unravel the laws and rules of the creative process resulting in a dense and energetic web of associations, attempts and possibilities. His work includes installations, sculptures, photos, videos, performances and publications.

At this moment his solo exhibition 'Play Hard' is on display at the Museet for Samtidskunst in Roskilde.
