The Laboratory for Construction focuses on three-dimensional art practices, especially those that involve metals, stone and similar materials. The Laboratory lets students work with bronze and aluminium in various ways, including casting. The facilities also allow students to use 3D printers and 3D milling machines, to create large-scale structures for installation pieces, and/or to make reinforcement elements and frames for heavy materials.

Health and safety is a key issue: to prevent accidents the Laboratory regularly holds courses on how to safely use the machines available. The day-to-day teaching reflects the student’s own projects; each student plans his or her work individually, but must of course get approval from the head of the Laboratory before commencing work.
